Ryanair announced the opening of a new route, from Faro to Dusseldorf (Weeze). The route will open on the 28th of October and will be the 9th Ryanair route from Faro.
The route will fly on Tuesdays, Thursdays and Saturdays.
German low-cost airline Air Berlin will fly from their Nuremberg base this winter to Ponta Delgada, in the Azores.
This route will start at 03 November 2008 and will have a weekly based schedule. After 4.5 hours of flying passengers will arrive in the capital of the Azores, Ponta Delgada, on São Miguel, the largest of the islands.
Feeder flights to Nuremberg are available from 12 German cities (Berlin, Dortmund, Dresden, Düsseldorf, Erfurt, Frankfurt, Leipzig-Halle, Hanover, Hamburg, Cologne-Bonn, Münster-Osnabrück, Paderborn) and also from Vienna, Austria.
Air Berlin is the only Low Cost airline that operates to this Portuguese archipelago in the Atlantic.

From 27 October 2008 Easyjet will start their first Portuguese domestic flight from Lisbon (LIS) to Funchal island (FUN).

The Danish airline Sterling will start their first route to Lisbon, flying to Lisbon from Copenhagen.

Has reported in January, easyJet started yesterday their new Faro to/from Glasgow (GLA) route.
The twice weekly service, operating Tuesday and Saturday, will increase to a three times a week flights during the busy summer period of June 26 to August 28.

The Ireland low cost airline Aer Arann announced that they will expand their services with two new routes to Faro (FAO). The new services will come into effect on May 1st from Galway Airport and Waterford Airport and these flights will operate on Wednesdays and Sundays.

Bmibaby has announced it will start one new route from Manchester Airport (MAN) to/from Lisbon (LIS) for the coming summer.
Bmibaby is the only airline flying to the Portugese capital from Manchester with one-way tickets starting from £24.99.
The new route to Lisbon takes off on June 17 and will operate on Tuesday and Sunday:
SkyEurope will start a new direct flight from Prague (PRG) to Lisbon (LIS).
The route will begin at the 2nd of May, with tickets priced from 19 € (taxes excluded). Departing on Monday and Friday, flights will leave Prague at 22:40pm and arrive in Lisbon at 1:10pm. On the way back, flights (also on Mondays) will leave Lisbon at 1:50am and arrive in Prague at 6:10am.
TUIfly is betting on Algarve for the summer of 2008 with two new routes to Faro (Algarve capital), from Basel (BSL) and from Cologne/Bonn (CGN).
The Cologne/Bonn (CGN) - Faro (FAO) route will start at the 19th of March and the Basel (BSL) - Faro (FAO) route will start at the 2nd of May.
